Pre-K Program

(sometimes referred to as “Connecting Program”)

The Pre-K Program is specifically tailored for children who have completed a preschool program for 4 year olds and who are eligible to start kindergarten, but who, after careful consideration from parents, teachers and/or other early childhood professionals, are deemed likely to benefit from delaying starting their kindergarten experience.

The First Church Pre-K Program offers curriculum that has been designed to be challenging, developmentally appropriate, and taught in an atmosphere that is both stimulating and nurturing.  The curriculum focuses on language arts, mathematics, science, physical education and social studies.  Children will also be supported in building social skills and developing positive peer relationships, as well as emotional maturity. Upon finishing the program, children will be confident and prepared to enter kindergarten.

A typical day in our Pre-K classroom incorporates free play time, where children select from a variety of pre-programmed activities and experiences planned by teachers, group time, which may include tracking the calendar, weather, and number of days of school, clean-up time, story time, lunch, playground/gym time, and individualized teacher support in performing curriculum activities. Special enrichment experiences in music, creative movement, sports, walks to nearby Binney Park and Perrot Library, and field trips will also be incorporated into the schedule.

9:00 AM to 1:55 PM, Monday – Friday

Children bring their lunch.  We are a nut-free program, so foods brought to school must not contain peanuts or peanut products, and no tree nuts.
